Archives in a Museum Context

The Arizona Museum Archives Working Group is an affiliate group of the Museum Association of Arizona. We work to introduce best practices in the stewardship of archival materials for museum practitioners who may not have formal training and do not have trained archivists in their volunteer or paid staff.

In an effort to improve stewardship of archives in museums, the working group has developed opportunities for educating museum practitioners and making museum archival collections more accessible to researchers and the public through building awareness of archives in museums, providing educational workshops for practitioners, and fostering a support network of practitioners

The working group aims to develop a model for museum practitioners to help make their archival collections discoverable and accessible to researchers.
